Not much to add to this page that isn't already posted on numerous other very good websites available about Leonberger Health. (such as www.leonbergerdogs.co.uk )

I did think it was worth a mention that for those of you who are interested, in ensuring your Leo is well cared for and that any excessive hip and elbow scores can be reported back to the breeder to ensure that those lines are avoided in future litter plans.

The vet we use in Jersey (although not the cheapest ! ) is very good and has excellent facilities. We visit quite regularly to keep an eye on our dogs weight and also to socialise with the vet and other dogs.

We use Leodis Veterinary Surgery at Red Houses in St Brelade and their main branch in St Helier called the New Era Veterinary Hospital. Both have 24 hours emergency call out if required.

The New Era branch is where they carry out the Hip and Elbow scores and for a Full hips and elbow x-ray including BVA assessment costs about £270 if done all in one go (Apparently in that rather inflated figure is a discount !!! ).

Eye Tests are normally arranged to co-incide with one of the Jersey Kennel Club Shows and usually costs in the region of £30
