Just over a month till Xmas ! Can you believe it ??? Where has this year gone ??

First of all a big thank you to the Hardy Folk who turned out for the Channel 103 Dog Walk last Sunday. The Weather was appalling, but the dogs enjoyed themsleves and we set off in the wind and rain from West Park to Bel Royal and back.
We had half a dozen Leonbergers running around St Aubins Beach and it was lovely to see all our puppies together again.
On our return journey, we had the thought of a nice warm cup of coffee and a mince pie to warm us up ... ahem ... well thats exactly what it was .. just a thought, as when we got back there was as much sign of a coffee as there was sunshine ! - oh well .. we all had a great day and the dogs enjoyed playing 'big dog' games together - at one stage two or three of the boys decided to 'tag team' a smaller dog - If I had the camera at hand it would have surely qualified for a £250 cheque from "Pets do the funniest things !!" - those of us who there know the exact moment I am sure !! very funny !
We have to try and get them all together again as it was a great day out and hopefully when the weather is better I will be in contact with everyone again.
As for the rest of our dogs, well Khan and Sahara are both doing really well, and enjoy keeping Zion and Zsari in line !
I am hoping to get some up to date photos on soon - just need the weather to dry up for a few hours !
Well, better shoot - will be posting more updates shortly

Hi everyone - excitiing times here !- Zsari has decided to have her first season as we speak, so I would expect her sisters to also be having them pretty soon. Sahara is not due for another 8 weeks or so ( we hope !)
Sahara, being Sahara, is not unknown to throw a few surprises in !!!
We are looking around for a nice Male for her - with good substance and also a decent height - have a few in mind, but keeping my options open at the moment.
I will be uploading some new pictures of our dogs shortly so check out their pages.
Just a quick update this time as need to get back looking for some nice males for Sahara.
Speak to you soon

Wow, another month gone by - where does the time go ??
Well, it will soon by the 'Jersey Litters' First birthday and it really only seems like a couple of months ago that we were up all night for a couple of weeks watching them being born and making sure they were all OK !!
Our two, Zsari and Zion, are both doing well, especially Zsari. She had such a hard time when she was young, it is nice tyo see her running about and wrestling Zion. Incidentally, if you saw these too playing tohether its so funny, Zsari is quite petite in comparison to the 'Lanky Mass' of Zion ! Very much a case of little and large ! Zion is over 60 Kgs now at 11 months old and during his 'growing stages' has looked very funny at times ! You know what thee Leonbergers are like when they are growing so fast !
We currently have a few names on our books for Sahara puppies, so may well look breeding her later on this year. I have a few large boys which i think would make a fantastic combination with Sahara -more news as and when I get confirmation . In the mean time if you are interested, please complete the puppy interest form (link on the front page) and I will add you to the waiting list.
Jazz (Golden Sands) is coming into her own now and won best puppy at a show recently - so well done Jazz !
Lara (Cream Tea) has recently returned from a skiing holiday and is looking well.
Hugo (Crusader) Is also growing well and is a tall lad. I am sure he is looking forward to starting his water training again this month.
Chewy (Island Adventure) is a big chunky lad and is so quite. He is lovely. Very similar to his brothers Hugo and Zion.
I am so glad that the owners have all kept in touch with how they are all doing. its so nice to see them all growing up.
Well, thats it for now and will try and get another update in before the end of the month- so bye for now and speak to you all soon

Hi all,
Not a great deal to update you all with but everyone is well and the 'Jersey LItter pups' are coming up to a year old. Exciting times, and am looking forward to hearing news from them all.
We have a few names on a puppy waiting list for our next litter so am looking around for a suitable male. We have 3 on our 'hit-list' so to speak, but am just checking pedigress and health. When we have more details we will post it on the site. We have to9day measured Zin and he has catapaulted himslef to 79cms at the shoulders and he is still under 12 months old !! - I think he has a lot of his dad in him and if he turnds out 50% as good as his dad I will be over the moon !!!
Jazz - is a whisker away from obtaining her Kennel Club Gold Citizens award and again, all before she was even 10 months old - what a girl !!
She has a good introduction to the show ring and hopefully as she matures she will receive the recognitin she so rightly deserves.
Chewy is still growing and is probably 60KG+ at 10 months old - he is a lovely dog and has good substance. Maybe we will see him in the Jersey Show ring at some stage ????
Kia is alo doing well and enjoying life with her half brother Sultan. Kia is so so similar to Zsari its unbelievable. two great girls and you ceertain;ly have to look twice to see who is about to run into you !
I will hopefully update you all again soon with how the other puppies are doing and posy some current photos.
Anyway, I am off scoring the website for a suitabe male to compliment Sahara. If you are interseted in our next litter please let me know by dropping me an email.
Keep an eye out for our updated puppy page coming soon with more details
Take Care for now

Well, Happy New Year to all our visitors - I hope it was a very happy one and of course .... filled with Xmas Spirit !!
It was a relaticely quite one for us, as I wasnt too well before Xmas, but enjoyable all the same.
We took Zion to be weighed last weekend and he was 47.5Kg at just over 7 Months, so looks like he has inherited some of his Fathers size !
However .... 'Chewy' or as he was previously known 'Fat Black', is probably over 50Kg's now . We met up with him over the Xmas period and took our 4 along !!
They all got along really well, and Chewy and Zion are very similar indeed, albeit Chewy being slighty stockier.
We have also met up with Tsar and Teddy (Theo) both lovely boys indeed.
Then the other day we went to see how Kia (Rose) was doing. We took Zion and Zsari along and I was interested to see how Zsari was doing compared to her one of her sisters. Kia lives with her Half Brother 'Sultan' who is a lovely big boy and a 11 months old is coming on really well. Sultan and Zion spent most if the time chasing each other around as did Zsari and Kia, whch was lovely to see. Kia and Zsari are very similar indeed and when they were both together it was very difficult to tell them apart. I took some photos which I will upload some time this week.
Lara (Sky) is living it up skiing for a few weeks so I am sure she will be in her element in the snow and we are looking forward to seeing some pictures for the website.
Unlike the Uk at the moment other than the 14 flakes of snow which fell this afternoon, we have (so far) escaped the heavy snow, which parts of the Uk are experiancing.
We have managed to find (which looks like) a really good food and am trying to find a supplier to ship it over to Jersey. It's a bit more expensive than what we are currently using but, on initial enquiries, seems very good and will fit in well with our dogs feeding regime. I am going to continue to make enquiries and will update you if I get any futher.
Living on an Island has its disadvantages sometimes, especially when trying to source new products !! Even the simple task of trying to get hold of some new raised feeding stands is proving to be difficult. Oh well it keeps me busy I suppose !
Lastly, I would like to thank everyone for the Xmas greetings and best wishes we received. It doesnt seem possible it is all over again for another year allready !!
Until next time.....
..... No task is complete without dog hair stuck to it !

I can not believe it has been so long since I updated this site - Apologies !!!
Well, so much has happened i dont know where to start !
I have had some great reports back from the owners form the "Jersey Litter" puppies. They all seem to do really well and I am very pleased with how they have grown up. There will be more info on the individual puppies on their own webpages.
I cant believe that the puppies are coming up to 7 months old at the end of the month. It is normally the age where they start to look silly. They either have huge ears and small heads, or long lanky legs. Luckily enough it is only a temporary stage and they soon settle down and get back into proportion.
I am sure some of you were aware that one of the girls at 7 weeks old lost the use of her backlegs. If that wasnt enough whilst she was in the veterinary hospital she then lost use of her front legs and needed 24 hour care as she could not move at all and therefore couldnt eat by herself and needed bathing all the time after she had been to the toilet. She then couldnt lift her head or even wag her tail - she had lost complete use of her muscles - it was a very worrying and distressing time
Unfortunatly, it didnt stop there and she then lost the ability to swallow properly and constantly choked when she had a drink or ate anything, we were then advised to have her put to sleep. I wasnt happy with this decision but went into the hospital to see her again. Now, whether it ws my imagination or a twitch i dont know, but after a week of being on 24 hour care at the hospital, when I went into see her, I could have sworn she moved her tail. Coral (as she was known then) was always a very pretty girl indeed and one of my favourites so had become quite close to her. I couldnt believe what I was seeing, why her, and most importantly, what was damn cause ???
I decided to press on for a bit longer. That wag of her tail, told me me she wasnt ready to 'go'
We had numerous blood tests, spinal fluid tests, and just about every test in the medical enclyopedias peformed ! Everytime we had her tested for specific conditions thinking we had found the cause, the tests would come back negative. We were running out of ideas and indeed had the vets puzzled as to the cause of this.
We pushed on and engaged the assistance of some specialsists from the UK.
Throughout all these tests, Corals condition seemed to 'stabilise', if you can call it that ? She was deterioating anyway, that was the main issue and I was determined to find out what the problem was.
There was a couple of tests left to do which I was really dreading and they involved hereditary diseases. Had we missed something when we paired Nio and Sahara?? Oh bugger ! I can tell you I was dreading these test results and had many sleepless nights. I could have sworn everything was ok with the parents. Anyway, the tests came back and my worts fears ahd been put to rest, they were negative - I was so happy, but still upset that Coral hadnt improved and we hadnt found the course.
Time was running out. Coral was, ( to but it bluntly) just a furry bag of bones and wasted muscle - nothing else. She had lost over 5kgs in weight and for a small 7week old puppy that was a lot, but everytime i went to see her she seemed so happy to see me. That was 'my' coral and she was still recognising me despite her very serious condition and extremly poor state of health.
The vets had run out of ideas and all the tests were coming back negative - despite all the work and 24 hour care, the assistance from specialists in the UK we were no better of - the time had come to make a decision on her future. Coral did not really have a 'life' and at this stage had to be hand fed and have it massaged down her neck as she had lost the ability to swallow. She would 'relieve' herself wherever she was laid as he couldnt move so was constantly soiling herself. It was not a pretty sight and even though that was my 'Coral' and we were doing everything in our power to give her the best possible chance to survive. All the nurses at the vets were becoming so attached to her though having to spend 24 hours a day caring for her. We had to make decision that was in Corals best interest.
I decided to go and spend some time with Coral before we had make a decision. I got there and her 'eyes' seemed to light up despite her poor condition. I laid in her bed with her on my chest for a while and just made a fuss of her. After spending that time with her I decided that I would give it one last chance and asked the vets if I could take her home with all her medication etc and give her the same care at home.
Coral by this time had also lost any sense of pain and was not responding to and superficial pain. If Coral was 'to go' then i wanted to go at home and to have Sahara with her.
We took her home and setup an area in our lounge where she could stay. As the days went passed it was becoming clear just how much attention she actually required and indeed how little she could do for herself. I used to carry her through to see Khan and Sahara, they were both so pleased to see her and likewise it appeard that Coral enjoyed the intearction from the other dogs. Sahara in particular, wanted to spend all her time with Coral so we bought her in with us. The days went on and we could see improvements in Coral especially around Sahara and the other dogs.
The remaining blood tests were still coming in negative and was very frustrating that we just didnt know what caused it.
Coral had started to put on weight again and was climbing back up to 7 Kgs, so we moved her to the front garden under a tree in the fresh air to save her being locked up inside all the time. She was still unable to move any of her limbs but was gaining strengthb ack in her neck and was able to hold her head for a short time. By this time she was off any medication and we were just awaiting the result from the last half dosen blood tests.
The days went passed and Coral was getting stronger by the day she started to wag her tail and then you could see her trying to move her legs - we just couldnt believe it. There we were bringing her home to effectively have her last few days at home with her mum and a week or so later she had started to improve despite being without any medication.
As the days and weeks continued to pass, Coral got stronger and stronger, she seemed to just thrive on being with the other dogs. She eventually got to the point where she could drag herself around. The front garden under the tree was no longer where she wanted to be - no sooner had we put her outside she started to pull herself to the end of the garden go round the front of the house and she would lie outside the gates which the other dogs were behind. It was clear where she wanted to be !
Taking this into consideration and her ever improving strength we started introducing physiotherapy and some hydrotherapy to help her along. A few weeks later and it was clear it was helping her and she was starting to try and stand by herself. This was such an advance on what she was a few months back.
Well, Coral or 'Zsari' as she is now known has continued to improve and is currently still progressing very well. She is permanently with the other dogs now and we just cannot believe the journey she has had. She is now going to be part of our pack here at home and she will not be going off to a new family as originally planned. Hopefully 2009 will be a better year for her !
With the extra caring provided for Zsari we have been unable to attend any shows, but will hopefully pick up on that in the new year.
I will hopefully be uploading a few new pictures soon, so check back and see how they are doing
I will take this oppurtunity in wishing everyone a very Happy Christmas and a Prosperous new year and hope to update the site along more now we have some more time on our hands.
For those of you who thought dogs cant count .... try putting three biscuits in your pocket and only giving them two !!!
Take Care.....

3rd August 2008
All the puppies have now gone to their new homes, except one which is due to go in two weeks. We are slowly recovering and getting back into our old routines again.
You will there is a new section on the site called "Jersey Litter" I will be uploading any pictures etc which are sent to me from the new owners.
We are taking our two, plus two puppies up to have yearly eye examinations today. So fingers crossed !
I would like to thank everyone who expressed an interest in our puppies, we were pleased with the amount of interest received and hopefully have produced a litter which is above all healthy, confident and have excellent temperaments.
We have a new addition !! - Details to follow on the site shortly !
We are looking at building our own Drafting cart /wagon and was wondering if anyone out there has any "plans, drawings, or photos of a nice "old fashioned" hay-cart style one. If you have, would it be possible to email it on to me as we would like to start trying a bit of drafting.
Any tips or good books on starting drafting would be greatly appreciated !!
We are going to give it a go and see how we get on. There are no clubs are associations in Jersey, which teach Drafting (as far as I know??) so we are going to "go it" alone.
Not sure what we are letting our selves in for, but we will keep you updated on how good or bad we are doing !
Speak to you soon

Well it is a lot quiter here now as most of the puppies have gone to their new homes. !! Sahara is starting to get back in to shape and Khan is loving the new play mates. He much prefers it when the puppies are NOT trying to feed off his one and only teat on his "under-carriage" !!
It has been an experiance ! - Extremely hard work, very tiring, expensive, but in a strange and obsure way - we enjoyed it!
We have had some photos from some of the new owners and will shortly be updating the site to show their progress in their new homes.
At the moment, I am trying to enjoy a good nights sleep, and not having to go on 'Poo Patrol' all the time
Will post more of an update soon...

19th July 2008
Well it doesnt seem possible that the puppies will be leaving next week, where has that time gone !???
Our Camera is playing up and we cant get any Photos at the moment - Sorry !
Luckily enough a budding young photographer called Matt Wellman came around last week and took some lovely pictures of some of the puppies
Keeping 9 Leonberger puppies under control is no easy task ! They are all doing really well and I am very pleased with their progress. I am finding hard to get time to update the website at the moment as all our time is taken up with Pups. Whether it be feeding them, cleaning up after them, socialising them (individually), spending quality time with each individual puppy and also not forgetting our Sahara and Khan. It is certainly a full time job !
The puppies will all be Microchipped next week and also be wormed again before they go to their new homes. We will be doing another "weigh-in" later and will update the site again with their new weights.
Sahara is slowly putting some weight back on and has been an absolutly brilliant Mum, she really has worked hard for these puppies and she will be due a well deserved break. I am taking her our out later on her own for a nice walk and then she can have a nice cuddle indoors, we are very proud of her !
Khan has also been brilliant with the puppies and has the patience of a Saint. He has had to put up with them trying to "feed" off him as well as them chewing his ankles all day !
A few sharp growls and a couple of empowering barks, soon taught the puppies that he was not to be messed with !
Well, I better go an start my cleaning duties and do some more on the puppy packs.
Speak to you soon

Hi guys and girls
Sorry !! its another quick update as the pups seem to be taking all my time at the moment. I have however, managed to load their weights as at 5 weeks and as at this evening when they were 6 weeks old. Sorry no pictures or Videos yet, there are just not enough hours in the day ! I will try and get some soon though - I promise !
"Aqua" has taken top rung in the overall weight department this evening, but "Flame" is still the tallest. "Flame" reminds me so much of his Daddy "Nio" in his ways and looks. He is certainly going to be a great looking boy. "Aqua" is a nice chunky Male who loves a good Cuddle and play and is quite often 'larging it up' with "Fat Black".
"Kadeer" has done really well and caught everyone up. He is a lovely little Fella with real Character. He is always alongside "Flame" and seems to look up to his big brother ! A great combo
We are keeping "Rose", she is a roughty toughty girl who loves putting the males in their place (I am sure thats why Marie chose her ! ) She is always with her mum and loves to cuddle up, so I think she will fit in well here. We were torn between three actually. "Amber" and "Coral" were also on the books to stay here, but I wasnt allowed to keep them all !! "Coral" is an absolute angel and is so much like her mum in looks and tempremeant. She holds herself really well and is very lady like. "Amber is a very nice girl. Big bone and nice mask, She also loves playing with the boys ! "Sky" is a big girl and also has a nice head with a good mask. She looks like she will turn into a really attractive dog. She is going to a nice home with another Leo, so she will have a new "Play pal"
"Ocean" is a lovely chunky boy who loves a nice cuddle and enjoys keeping everyone on their toes ! He is a real 'boy' and has a lovely home waiting for him, as do the rest of them.
I am pleased that so many are staying on the Island and I will be able to see them grow up and hopefully meet quite regularly. We have had a good deal of interest from the UK and Europe and even as far as New Zealand and USA. I am pleased with their progress and they are making all the hard work over the last 18 months worth it. Both my Self and the breeder where Nio is from (Julie Jones) have put in a lot of time and effort for this litter and to see them turn out the way they have is lovely.
"Fat Black" and "Aqua" are in stones throwing distance from me so will hopefully bump into them a lot. The Channel 103 dog walk this year will hopefully have a few Leonbergers in it and It would be great if we all walked across the beach together in the very first Jersey, 'Leonberger pride !' It would be a Magnificiant Sight I am sure !
We have a number of people interested in our last two puppies "Kadeer" and "Coral" but they have yet to secure them, so if you are interested in one of our Puppies, please give us a ring before they go.
Well I must go and get some sleep as it is 23:44 and the mornig will soon be here and the pups will be shouting for breakfast !
Bye for now

29th June 2008
Just a quick update for you - weighed a couple of the boys this week and they are touching 4Kgs at 4 weeks old !!
We met some lovely people at the weekend who will be taking home one of our puppies next month. We are very pleased that they will have such good homes and it obviously makes the day when they have to go that bit easier if we know they are going to be well looked after.
The puppies have really started to take things in now and play with each other. It is so lovely to watch and I waste hours upon hours just watching them.
I have posted a link to the S.E.A.L's website (formerly the UKLA) as it has some lovely pictures and is also a good source of infomation if you are looking at introdunig your Leo to Draught or water work. If you have a spare few minutes take a look around !
I cant belive that the puppies are 4 weeks old already. It only seems like yesterday that they were being born. It has been quite a hard 4 weeks and certainly the 1st 2-3 weeks went past when we had between 3 and 4 hours sleep a night if we were lucky ! and even then it was very light sleep as you always had one eye on the pups to make sure they were ok. Breeding puppies is by no means easy, and by no means cheap. A few people have contacted me asking for advice about breeding and is it easy etc. I cant say that it has been extremly exhausting and an awful lot of work. It is all worth it in the end when you see them grow up but dont be fooled into thinking it is easy. Sure, there is shortcuts which can be taken but they could be to the serious detrimeant of the dam and puppies, something we were not prepare to risk.
I am still looking at obtaining as much info as I can about the Leonbergers on the Island so if you have one or know someone who has one get them to drop me an email or give me a ring, I would love to find out about them.
Well, the puppies will be shouting for their food in a minute so I better go and get started
Take care for now

Wow ! Where does time go ???
My plans of putting lots of Pictures and vides on the website are all going to poty - because we are speniding so much timw with the puppies. It is not because they need it now, but there have all got such great characters we just love sitting watching them and playing with them !!
They have all pretty much got nice white shiny sharp teeth now !! - Beleive me, they have !
We have met most of the new owners now and am pleased that they are all going to good homes. We have a couple of new owners coming over at the weekend to see the pups from the UK, so am looking forward to putting faces to emails !
We have deceided to keep one and have our eyes on a couple at the moment ! -although if it was up to me I would have them all
So, apart from the pups there is not much to report at the moment so I am going to go and carry on with some paperwork and feed our little furballs.
Speak to you all soon

Sorry it has been so long since the last update but trying to keep on top of the puppies needs and catch up on some sleep and update the website is proving harder than expected but I will try my best to keep you as up to date as I can.
The puppies are all doing really well and I have posted their weights as at this evening on the litter page.
We have had a lot of Interest in the litter which is good, but unfortunatly it means that some people will not get puppy this time around. It is a hard process picking potential new owners to take home the puppy which you have just spent the best part of the last 8 weeks, day and night looking after and seeing to their every need.
We want to try and make sure that the people we pick, provide the best homes as we possibly can, afer all you are taking home our babies. Once I have met all the new owners and have a good undertanding of what they are looking for in a puppy and what sort of environment they will be going to, we can start letting the new owners 'choose' their puppy.
The puppies are slowly being weaned onto Solid food and all love minced beef and minced Lamb. Their are still feeding from Sahara as well, so are growing almost before our eyes !!
Their eyes are open now and are all sitting up and walking around quite happily.
After their meal this evening, two of them decided that they would climb into their food and fall asleep !!!
There is nothing more rewarding than seeing your own puppies develop and thrive before you own eyes. It makes the weeks of no sleep and, all the hard work all worth it. If any one says breeding your own dogs is easy, they are lying. We have been fortunate enough to keep all our puppies, but it is only through hard work and supervision 24 /7 that we are in this lucky position. It could quite easily be a different story and all so often is. We have 9 healthy baby bergers and we are really proud of our efforts.
Anyway, must go and get some shut eye - looking forward to seeing our potential owners over the next couple of weeks and introducing them to our pups.
We still have a couple of puppies available, so if your are interested and can offer a good home, then please drop me a message. My details are on the puppies pages.
Bye for now
Wayne, Sahara and her pups !
6th June 2008
Just a quick update to say that we now have a video page and all the pups have their individual "areas" on the litter page, showing birth weights and details as they grow. if you click oin the small pictures it should open up a large version.
Both Mum and all the pups seem to be doing well. They just seem to be sleeping all the time. It is OK for Some !! - We are with the puppies 24 hours a day 7 days a week at the moment just making sure none get accidently stood or sat on. Will be posting updates fairly regularly now so pop back again soon.
BYe for Now.

I am sure most of you are allready aware but - Sahara's litter has arrived - 5 Males and 4 Females. She did it all herself and was fantastic.
It is certainly an experiance having your own litter and then watching them being born.
I have updated our litters page to include puppy details and I will also be uploading photos of each individual puppy. I have taken over 300 photos of them so far and i just need to go through and sort them out.
I will be updatng the site weekly over the next few weeks to upload puppy data and pictures. I also have the task of going through the waiting list. I will be in touch with those people in the next few days.
We are not sure what day it is at the moment and it feels like we have probably had the best part of 8 hours sleep since last Thursday ! Thank goodness for Coke and Chocolate.... and of course you can count on the puppies to wake you up everytime you are just nodding off !
I am off to try and get some shut eye, but will get back onto uploading some photos - hopefully tommorrow so please check back soon.

Hiya everyone, just a quick update to let you know Sahara is doing really well, she is starting to get big now and is having difficulty in getting comfortable to go to sleep but otherwise very healthy and looking good.
Judging by the size of her I will surprised if she goes past the end of this month ! As from next week I think i will be making my bed along side her just in case things "kick into action !"
I was lucky enough to have some photos sent to me of Khans Daddy (Rossnick Utter nutter) and have placed one of the front page. I can see a lot of similarity between the two and can also see where Khan gets some qualities from his mum (Stormchaser Stars in my eyes at Starlock)
At 9 1/2 years old he is still looking good and is being well looked after along side Khans Sister (Starlock Chikadee) and one of Utter nutters Grand sons. It was great to get these pictures and have been added to Khans Scrapbook.
Well as you understand we are awaiting the delivery of Sahara's pups so am in full "puppy" mode, so bear with us if it takes a bit longer to respond to any emails. I will get round to it I promise !
The next update will probably be after the puppies arrive so until then ...
Something for you to think about until the next update ....
... "A dog can express more with his tail in seconds than his owner can express with his tongue in hours"
Till then tutty bye !

1st May 2008
The Pregnancy has been confirmed and Sahara is expecting !!!
The puppies should be due around the end of the this month, so it is all systems go now, and I have to get used to sleeping with the dogs !!
Sahara was scanned this evening and she appears to have a belly full !! It was hard to see exactly how many there were but without evein trying we manged to count 4-5 without all in ne go, which doesnt happen very much, and that was only scanning a small area of her belly !!
There are still spaces on the waiting list for this litter, so if you interested in a puppy from Sahara and Nio then please register your interest on the "Litters and Puppy" page.
She is doing really well and I am sure she will make a fantastic mummy.
So, its only about 4 weeks to go now and i have a few things to get done ready for the imminent litter so I must crack on and will hopefully have an update for you all soon !!
Take care
Wayne

7th April 2008
Well I think I have settled back down again and Sahara is doing well.
We are anxiously awaiting the end of the month to see if we have any babies due , so fingers crossed !!
We had a great time and managed to see some fantastic Leos !
Jane and Tony from the Jantonely Kennel have some nice big Males and some lovely females as well. I met up with Gary and Rachelle from the Arcanine Kennel, but get get an oppurtunity to meet their dogs as it would have been great to see Sahara's daddy "Bear"and another of her sisters "Nanna" - maybe next time eh Gary ??
I obviosly met all the Bavaruki Leos, and they are all lovely. Of course one of my favourites was Nio, and he looked even better than last time I saw him !
Jane and Tony have "Diesel" who is one of Nio's offspring and he is already doing well in the ring and is a nice big dog.
I sampled lots of fantastic food over there and also developed quite a taste for St Pourcain Wine, which was a "local brew" to use one of Gary Pitchfords phrases !
Chantelle is a very nice area, and was very picturesque when we had snow.
I had my first encouter with a deer, although I would have preferred it wasnt when I was driving around a corner, and it unexpectantly decided to cross the road in front me ! - a quick change of underwear, rescued Sahara from under the back seats and we continued our journey !!
I must thank Julie and Pete for putting up with me for so long and also Julie Jones for all her help and assistance. - Thanks to you all
Will update you when we have had the scan.
Take care for now
As they say in France - "Bonjour ! "

2nd April 2008
I have just arrived back last night from France and hopefully after the long awaited pairing of Nio and Sahara, we are hoping to get some great looking dogs. They both move great and are very typey. Nio is a very large male and has an excellent tempremant. They certainly looked great together.
We just have to await the scan and see if we were successful. Will update the site with more news as soon as we get it !
Fingers Crossed !!!!
I managed to meet up with Jane and Tony from the Jantonely Kennels as well as Gary and Rachelle from the Arcanine Kennels. I also saw the biggest Leo I have ever seen called Wannadoo !! - What a boy !
Apologies for this brief update, but will give a fuller update over the coming weeks.
Take to ya soon

Hi everyone,
Sorry about the long break since an update, but we have been patiently (who am i kidding !?) waiting for Sahara to come into season. Well she has finally decided it is time and we are off at the weekend for a mating with Nio. - Fingers crossed !
We have had a good response for people wanting to go on our waiting list for the puppies and hopefully when we have a successful mating and a confirmation scan, I will be in contact with all those who have expressed an interest to make sure they are still interested.
Poor old Khan doesnt know what is going on ! - he thinks his luck is in and then we will take her away !!
I had booked Sahara in for a Champ show in April but it looks like that we will have to miss that one, which is a shame as I was looking forward to it and she would have done well I am sure. She is is in good coat at the moment and we have managed to get a couple of Kilos off her whch will be great for the mating etc - Sahara does like her food ! - and Khans !
I will post an update when I come back from France
In the mean time - take care
Wayne
26th February 2008
Hello, Sorry about the long time since the last update, we have had a busy time over here with one thing and another.
Sahara has yet to come into season so she is keeping us waiting for this one, but we are keeping a close eye on her just incase she springs a surprise !
We have a show coming up in April, and we have entered Sahara into that one, but if she comes in to Season then we may have to scrap it, for obviuous reasons.
I have had a few emails over the last few months about Leonberger health and inherant conditions, so I am looking at setting up a page with some of this info on.
Crufts is coming up soon and I will be keeping a look out for the Leos on the Saturday, a few of my Leo friends are going across and I will be cheering them on.
Not much more to report at the moment but will update the site as when Sahara decides to come into season !
Take care for now and remember, ..... if everytime you tuck into your dinner, you get a mouth full of fur, or evertime you want to go to the kitchen you have to step accross a huge dog, which is lying accross your doorway, then you must be at home with a Leonberger !
14th January 2008 !
Hi everyone, I hope you all got what you asked for at Christmas !!
No Sooner as it seems to arrive, it is all over again ! - maybe I am getting old ??
Anyway, it is hopefully going to be a busy month for us with Sahara coming into season around the end of the month. I am looking forward to taking her away agan and meeting up with Nio. He is such a lovely dog and so very similar to Khan in many ways, Ilove him !
We have been actively getting our 'Leo Nursery' together and hopefully, on top of things at the moment.
On the show side of things it is going to be a quite year I think, due to Saharas Litter and subsequant round the clock care for the bergers !
I may well take Khan out again as he does enjoy it. I am looking to get him into Drafting this year, but it is proving to be very difficult to get hold of any decent harnesses or even Karts, so looks like I will be Internet Shopping again !!
There is also nothing over here in Jersey yet for this, so it is going to be nose into lots of books this year and a bit of self tuition !
On the website side of things I am hoping to add a bit more "New" content so keep an eye out for some more pages appearing.
Well take for now and will speak to you all soon

11th December 2007
Hello everyone !!
Well it is almost here so I am going to take this opportunity in wishing you all a Very Merry Xmas and an even better 2008'
It is (hopefully !) going to be a busy start to the year for us ! - Not only we have to contend with over eating during Xmas, over drinking during the new year, and then over spending on both !!, we will be looking at our first litter with Sahara.
We have allready had a fair bit of Interest in this litter, but there is a still a few spaces left if you would like to add your naming to our waiting list.
Over the past year or so I have seen lots of Leo puppies arriving in Jersey, and am keen to get in touch with a few to exchange 'Leo talk' and perhaps meet up with the dogs. If you know of anyone with a Leonberger and they are willing to swap leo Details, please ask them to contact me. I would love to get a Jersey Leonberger group Photo in the New Year !
Well, I have still got lots of wrapping to do and I havent even got the wife a pressie yet so must dash - take care everyone and speak to you all in 2008 !!!!
Wayne, Marie, Rhys, Kaed, Khan and Sahara
xx
May all your Xmas' be full of Christmas Spirit......, wine, beer, Leo fur, Muddy Footprints........

5th November 2007
Hello again. Just a quick update.
We did the "Channel 103FM -Dog Walk 2007" at the weekend in order to raise money for the Jersey Animal Shelter.
We started at West Park in St Helier and walked along the beach to Bel Royal and then back again. There was over 200 dogs and they were accompanied by over 500 people. It was a good turn out and a fun day. The dogs enjoyed themselves and it was a bit of good exercies before we scoff ourselves silly at Xmas !!!
There was a lot if interest, once again, in the dogs, and apparently there was somebody with a young Leo Puppy but we couldnt find it. If it was you or you know who it was, please get in touch as we woud love to exchange Leo stories. There must be nearly a dozen Leos in Jersey now and I am trying to get to know them all and am frequently contacted and told "...we saw another Leonberger today like yours .." but it would be nice to meet up with the others and have a leo party !
I have updated the links pages as well as the Photo Album so please check them out.
Sahara is due back in Season over the Xmas / New Year period so fingers crossed this time !!
Details of the proposed litter can be found on the "Litters and Puppy" page.
Hopefully have an update and some more pictures soon.
Bye for now
Wayne

3rd October 2007
Well not much to report really. We havent done any more shows and have been spending a bit of time on the dogs kennel. Sahara is now over 2 years old and their had been a noticable change in her. She has quitened down a bit and getting out of her 'puppy stage'
She is still determined to be the dominant Leo at home, but Khan is quite happy to let her think she is and then every once in a while remind her that he has the "Nads De Chien" and puts her in her place.
We are looking forward to her next season when we will be taking her away to hopefully get a successful mating.
We were at the beach the other evening and I went swimming with both our dogs and they 'towed' me about for a while until Khan had enough and decided to go back to my wife who was at the shore with our youngest son. Sahara, on the other hand was more then happy to give me a tour of the Bay for another 10 minutes !
We have had a very good response for puppies from Sahara's proposed mating in 2008 and have a number of names on our waiting list already. There are still potentially a few spaces, so if you are interested in a puppy please register your interest by emailing me at Wayne@Nahkolam.co.uk
As you have probably noticed we have moved to a new website and have almost finished the transition. I will hopefully be adding some more features soon including videos. Please check back soon to see how I get on
well thats all for now
Speak to you soon

15th August 2007
Hi everyone,
Well unfortunatly we didint get a mating this time with Sahara and Nio, but we are planning another mating early 2008.
A short 4-5 day excursion for Julie and her mum turned out to be 2 weeks. We had true Jersey weather and it was sunny everyday and i dont think the temperature dropped much below 25 and it certainy went over that on a couple of days.
As you can see from the pics on the front page (sorry about the quallity there were grabbed from a video !) our youngest boy fell in love with him and loved to be sat with him and kissing him. It just shows the fantastic temprameant he has and is exactly what we are looking at bringing intro our breeding plans.
The pictures dont do Nio justice, he his a big dog with a lovely coat and moves very well for a dog of his size. Sahara and Nio are very typey and will hopefully provide us with some fantatsic pupps early next year.
Well it is almost back to normal now for us as Sahara has just finished her season, and we are looking forward to her next one !
I will hopefully adding some new content to the site soon as I complete the transition from the old site.
Speak to you soon

Sahara has now come into season and we will be looking at taking her to be mated with Beninio vom Zeitschelhof (NIO) anyday.
It has all come around very quick and is a very exciting time for us.
After she comes back from the mating we will get her scanned to confirm the pregnancy and possibly the number of puppies.
If you have not yet registered your interest in a puppy, please do so by emailing me at Wayne@Nahkolam.co.uk
I will update the site when she returns
take care
